Why anyone would name their dog Marley after the movie Marley and Me came out in 2008 beats me. If you have not seen the movie yet, it is a must see for dog lovers or anyone who likes a fun, but sad movie. However, I definitely would resist the urge to name your dog Marley.
The Marley my family has been looking after is a one year old burly black lab. His head is enormous, and he is a bit uncoordinated. A loving dog for sure, but a ridiculous one as well. He is a bundle of joy

Feral Cats
by Jane Wangersky April 27th, 2010 | Cats
While looking into insurance for our cats, I found out that “feral” apparently was considered a “breed”. Maybe it’s meant to cover cases where “we found this cat living in the woods and we don’t know what breed he is”.
One of our cats came to us from the wild – the field behind a local park -- by way of a shelter, but I’d hesitate to call her feral. That’s not just because we think we’ve figured out what breed she is (Exotic Shorthair, “the lazy person’s Persian” according to Wikipedia), but because she’s become so civilized she doesn’t

How To Care For A Hamster-Part 1
by Anna P. April 22nd, 2010 | Various PetsHamsters are the most common pet rodents aside from rabbits. Kids love them and they’re rather easy to care for. There are over 20 sub-species of the hamster, but the Syrian and dwarf hamsters are two of the most common types kept as pets. The Syrian hamster usually grows up to 6 inches in size, while the dwarf hamsters only grow up to half the size. Compared to cats and dogs, hamsters have relatively short life spans from 2 to 3 years. While hamsters make excellent pets for some, they are obviously not for everyone, so you’ll need to
Preventing Dog Bites
by Jane Wangersky April 20th, 2010 | Dogs
The image of a dog furiously chasing a mailman is old, tired, clichéd – and based firmly on fact. The three groups of people most commonly bitten by dogs are children, the elderly, and postal employees, in that order.
So it’s not surprising that the U.S. Postal Service takes an active part in National Dog Bite Prevention Week. (It’s May 16th to 22nd this year.)
The Post Office has some tips for everyone on how to prevent dog bites.
If you think a dog is possibly about to attack you:
· Don’t run
· Don’t scream
· Don’t make eye contact
· Stay motionless and wait for the dog

Introducing Baby to Kitty
by Michele April 15th, 2010 | Cats
As a cat owner (or more aptly, one who's owned by a cat), you know that cats are aloof and tend to do as they please. So, if you have had a cat as a pet and suddenly are introducing a baby to ktty, this probably wasn't in her plans. In order to create a harmonious home, there are a few things you can do.
1. Let your cat sniff your baby's belongings. Cats are curious by nature. If you don't allow your cat to check out the smells of this new household member, it will become a battle between you
