When my dog was alive, we would bring her to what we called the “poodle place.” Lynmar Kennels, owned by Lynn and Mark Travers, became our doberman’s home while we went on vacations. We picked this kennel, even though almost all of the dogs in the home are Kerry Blue Terriers or Standard Poodles, because the owners were family friends. It was actually quite a site to see–all of those groomed dogs running around with our blue doberman pinscher. I always loved to hear the stories that Lynn had about our doberman when we came back from vacations; one of my favorites was how our dog was one of the dogs that was allowed to go upstairs in their home to watch TV.
Lynmar Kennels started in 1990 and is located at the home of Lynn and Mark Travers. I would say that it is
more of a place for artistic dog grooming than a kennel. The kennel is a private facility that offers boarding for existing clients and for the new dogs that fit in with their family of dogs.
Lynn specializes in professional grooming while Mark does the handling skills. The two have produced over 35 champions with their skills. They typically show all varieties of Poodles and some Kerry Blue Terriers. You can have your dog groomed by these professionals for reasonable prices. Lynn has been grooming for over 25 years and enjoys grooming all breeds of dogs. She specializes in the fine art of scissoring and breed specific trims.
Lynmar Kennels is also offering grooming classes during the month of January. There is a beginner mini-weekend class during the weekend of the 16th that will teach you to groom your own dog ($150)! There is also an Introduction to Grooming six-week course that is held two evenings per week and on Saturday morning ($900).
