Heat Season

heat

Three weeks ago, all the girls at home – Martina (the beagle) and Sidney (the Persian cat) went into their heat cycle. I was already aware that Martina would go into heat, but I didn’t expect that Sidney would go, too. I thought Sidney would not be in heat yet until we saw Homer (our male Persian cat) interested in her.

Sidney

Days after we saw Homer’s knew interest in her, Sidney vomited for 3 consecutive mornings. I’ve read somewhere that if cats are pregnant, they also have morning sickness just like humans. So, my husband and I are now excited to have some little kittens at home. For the meantime, we are just monitoring Sidney’s behavior. She has become sleepy most of the time. I always catch her sleeping under the bed, on top of the of the kitchen counter, behind the television rack, and under the table. She also eats a lot and has become sweeter. She follows me wherever I go and always wants to sit on my lap.

Martina

This is Martina’s second heat season already, and every time Martina goes into heat, we can’t sleep because our male dogs keep on barking, especially our Labrador, Rubens. I am not sure, though, if Martina’s pregnant now because we haven’t seen her mated by our male beagle, Chester.

Anyway, my 2 girls are having lots of changes lately. Martina has gained a lot of weight, and Sidney has become very sleepy and always eats a lot. I am not yet sure if they are pregnant. A trip to the veterinarian next week will confirm it. But in case they are indeed pregnant, I think I’m ready to be a “granny” soon.
