I can remember clearly the first time I saw a hybrid dog. I was in an office and a visitor was showing his Labradoodle to the employees. This puppy was quite adorable, chocolate brown with great curls. ![]()
Having been a dog owner at different points in my life, I have a soft spot when I see these furry, four-legged creatures. I am the person who squats down to pet a dog when meeting a new pooch at a friend’s house. If it is a dog I have not seen previously, I always ask what breed it is.
Having seen a few dogs that were mixed breed dogs, which is what I called them until learning the correct title today, I find some of the hybrids to be especially adorable. Of particular note are the Chorkie, Goldendoodle, and the aforementioned Labradoodle.
So, as I was pondering other cute dogs that could be bred, I decided to do a web search for new breeds of dogs. To my surprise, there are many more breeds than I expected. How about a Cock-A-Chon, a Bichon Frise/Cocker Spaniel mix? Or what about a Shug, a German Shepherd/Pug mix?
The list of hybrids is long with an amazing amount of combinations. It seems that if you can think of a hybrid, it exists. So, when you are pondering a new dog for your home, don’t just think about a beagle or bulldog, there are many more options available.
