Insurance

After your pit bull takes a sample of your neighbor with her teeth, you’re probably without a dog and some serious cash after the ordeal is said and done.

Should you have gotten pet insurance?

Let’s be real about it. If you’re looking for an exotic pet (tarantula, monkey, or any reptile you could stick half of your arm down the throat of), you’ll probably already be careful about whom your animal does and doesn’t mingle with. Then again, dogs have the highest rate of injuring visitors and property. This may be simply because they’re more common in your household than a five-foot alligator, but they’re just as likely to injure or cause damage. Obviously, this is especially true for breeds notorious for vicious behavior.

Because of the nature of certain dogs, some species have been dubbed high risk breeds. This labeling has caused trouble for people looking for housing insurance since the liability portion of the insurance covers dog bites. Fortunately, many insurance policies today are covering a separate policy to cover the dangerous pet.

  1. I actually own a Pitbull, one that would never hurt anything. He is 5 years old and his best friend is a Chihuahua. A dog is as good as his owner!

I have insurance, which it does cost allot. This is to irresponsible dog owners not individual breed however.
