Tucked away in Nashua, New Hampshire, lies the Humane Society for Greater Nashua. The Humane Society is a private nonprofit corporation that has dedicated everything toward the two- and four-footed community. They protect and provide abused, unwanted, abandoned, and neglected animals with a temporary place to live and be nurtured. However, the Humane Society for Greater Nashua simply cannot continue to take care of the animals; it needs people like us to help it out. The Humane Society relies solely on community-wide support, fundraising events, bequeaths, and donations.

One way to get involved would be to adopt an animal. You also could donate to the corporation (donations are tax-deductible). Another great way to help out the organization would be to get involved in the annual Walkoberfest!

On October 4th, 2008, the Humane Society will host its traditional morning dog Walk-a-thon at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Merrimack, NH. In Celebration of their 25th year, they have expanded the event to include an afternoon Oktoberfest. Unfortunately, dogs will not be permitted into the afternoon Oktoberfest event (starting at 12:00 noon). The event will run from 9am to 5pm, rain or shine. The event will feature food, activities, vendors, and entertainment such as King Ludwig’s Bavarian Band.

The admission is $5 ($3 for children 8 and under). Admission is free to those who collect Walk-a-thon pledges.

Come support a local cause on October 4th. The walking pledges will be posted on the organization’s site in a short while.

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua has found safe homes for thousands of animals. However, they would not be able to continue doing what they do without outsiders’ support. Without donations, consistent adoptions, and more, the Humane Society would never exist. Help protect the animals, and support the Humane Society for Greater Nashua.
